Outdoor Training
Outdoor training of the trainees aims to achieve best physical and mental fitness, skills in specific field and develop scientific aptitude to tackle problems while performing field duties. The outdoor training of newly recruited trainees broadly covers three areas-
- Physical Training- This is the corner stone of physical fitness for all outdoor training. To develop basic endurance and strength in trainee cadets, do P.T. exercises, Cross Country Runs,
Rope Climbing, Apparatus work and Physical Fitness Test (PPT), and finally to Battle Physical Efficiency Test (BPET), Battle Obstacle Assault Course (BOAC) and Unarmed Combat. Swimming, Yoga, Gym, Games and Sports classes are intermixed with PT classes of the trainee cadets.
- Infantry and Weapons Training- Includes Turn out, Foot drill, arms drill, ceremonial drill, Cane and sword Drill, Guard Mounting various formations, Weapons handling and firing, field Craft and tactics, Road works, Rout Marches etc.
- Riding and Driving- Riding Includes horsemanship i.e. Saddling, riding at Trot, canter, gallop and doing jumps. Driving includes two wheelers and four wheelers driving, theory of motor mechanics, traffic rules etc.
